SCALING & POLISHING
- At Aesthetic dental center after your dental examination the dentist
will provide you with your treatment plan which can include scaling
and polishing. - Scaling is a term used to describe cleaning of the teeth by our highly specialized ultra-sonic scalers.
- Scaling removes extrinsic stains and calculus from the teeth.
- Extrinsic stains are caused by smoking, consumption of tea/ coffee or also caused by deposition of stains by chromogenic bacteria.
- Calculus is calcified or hard deposits present above or below the level of gingiva or gums. Presence of calculus detrimental for the health of the gums.
- A routine scaling and polishing procedure take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. It is a completely painless procedure. We take extra care for the comfort of our patients. If sensitivity persists, we give painless local anaesthesia to make the procedure more comfortable.
- After scaling, polishing is done by polishing paste. We also use air polisher which uses compressed air, water and powder to disrupt the oral bi film (which is responsible for the first step of deposition of plaque) and remove stains front tooth surface
- Complete oral hygiene instructions are given which includes brushing method (strokes) and flossing technique is demonstrated to help you familiarize and inculcate this into your routine oral hygiene.
COMPOSITE DENTAL FILLINGS
- Composite filling is a tooth-coloured permanent filling material.
Composite is a synthetic resin. Since the inception of composite resins,

ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
- Root canal treatment are painful- A MYTH!
Root canal treatments are not painful when performed efficiently and
accurately.
What is a root canal treatment?
A. Each tooth has a pulp enclosed within it. The first layer is enamel,
then dentine then comes the pulp (neurovascular bundle)
When caries / decay reaches the pulp, that is when root canal
treatment is considered as the primary treatment of choice. Pulp is
removed the canals are cleaned, shaped and filled/ restored.
What can I expect in a Root canal treatment?
A. Based on the clinical examination, your symptoms and x-ray, root
canal procedure shall be suggested if need be.
After your consent, local anaesthesia is administered in a painless
technique, with at most comfort. After assuring that tooth is
anaesthetized the procedure begins which involves cleaning the teeth
from all the decay. The next step is to find the canals and determine
their length. After this cleaning and shaping of the canals is undertaken
and proceeded with filling of those canals. All the above-mentioned steps are done by using our state-of-the-art equipment, latest
technology, sterilized instruments and a lot of care and patience..
How many visits do I need?
a. Generally, a crown is highly recommended after a Root canal
treatment, the tooth is devoid of healthy tooth structure thereby
making the tooth structure very weak and vulnerable to fractures,
when stress is applied.

A Crown is a cover/ cap that needs to be placed on a tooth, in these
conditions:- After a root canal treatment
- Badly damaged/ no tooth structure left
- Discoloured teeth (intrinsic stains)

- To bridge a missing tooth, two crowns are placed on either side.

VENEERS & LUMINEERS
Veneers and Lumineers are thin tooth-coloured shells that are attached to the front surface of the teeth to improve the aesthetic and design a new smile
What is the difference between Veneers and Lumineers?
A. Both serve the same purpose of improving the aesthetic of the teeth. The only difference is for Veneers we need to remove a small layer from the front surface of teeth (a few mm) Lumineers are basically “No- prep Veneers”. There is no need to prepare/ remove a small layer of teeth. They are not invasive. Depending on many factors, our Dentist can suggest what type of veneers/ Lumineers will suit you the best.
What to expect during the procedure ?
A. First appointment our dentist will select a shade for the Veneer/ Lumineers. By matching it with the rest of your teeth by using VITA Easy shade digital spectrophotometer.
The dentist will start preparing the tooth, shaping and polishing it to a desired size. Then the impression of your tooth is taken. A temporary Veneer/ Lumineers is custom fabricated and cemented for use till the
next appointment. Second appointment- After we have received the Veneer/ Lumineers from the lab, our front desk will book your second appointment. The temporary Veneer/ Lumineers will be removed. The area is cleaned and the new Veneer/ Lumineers is cemented by dental cements. Minor
adjustment of your bite is made, if necessary. You can start smiling with your newly designed Veneer/ Lumineers instantly.

METAL BRACES
Metal braces are the traditional braces which are being used since decades. The strong body of the metal braces is needed to withstand the harsh conditions of the oral cavity. Their appearance may not be the best but the results achieved with them is excellent. They are tried and tested and are reasonably priced as compared with the other braces. They can be easily replaced and fitted without any difficulty. These braces are the main choice of most teens and adults.
CERAMIC BRACES
Ceramic braces, transparent braces or tooth-coloured braces are
newer braces and they match the colour of the teeth. Hence, they are
not visible when the patient talks or smiles. They are more expensive
than the metal braces but the results are the same. They do not stain
at all as the quality of the ceramic braces is very good. Replacement
may be difficult sometimes that’s why care should be taken not to
break them during treatment. Mostly adults who are conscious of
metal braces get these braces. The wires are silver colour only. Most of
the patients are going for these ceramic braces as they look good and
cannot be seen by others.
CLEAR ALIGNER / lNVISALIGN
Clear aligner treatment is the latest innovative technology which is
being used to correct crooked teeth. Braces are not needed for this as
the crooked teeth are straightened by wearing a series of removable
transparent plates. These plates need to be worn 22 hours a day and
for roughly 7-10 days depending on the case type. These aligners are
more expensive than conventional braces but they are completely
invisible. No dietary restrictions are there as the patient can remove
them and eat whatever they want. Once they are done eating, they can
clean their teeth and wear the aligners again. Most of the corporates
go for clear aligners because of their invisible nature and comfort.
DENTAL IMPLANTS
Dental implants are a metal post that replaces the root portion of a
missing tooth. An artificial tooth (crown) is placed on an extension of
the post(abutment) on the dental implant, giving you the look of a real
tooth.
TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT (TMJ)
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the joint that connects your mandible
(lower jaw) to your skull. The joint is present on both sides of your head
in front of your ears. It allows your jaw to open & close, enabling you to
speak & eat. Problem in TMJ causes pain in the joint, clicking sounds,
difficulty in movements of jaws, deviation of jaw while opening.
